SEARK College Promotes Ed Corniel to Head Baseball Coach

PINE BLUFF, AR (August 7, 2025) - Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) proudly announces the promotion of Ed Corniel to Head Baseball Coach of the Sharks baseball program.  A native of New York, Corniel brings a rich blend of playing experience, academic achievement, and coaching expertise that has already made a significant impact on the team over the past two seasons.

Corniel earned his associates degree in Sports Management and Individual Studies from Jefferson Community College in 2020, and later completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Olivet in 2022.  As a collegiate athlete, Corniel excelled at the NJCAA Division III level, earning the prestigious ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award in 2016, while hitting .347 with 32 RBIs.

His coaching journey began in 2018 at Community Health Academy in the Heights in New York and has included key roles at Southwest Virginia Community College and the University of Olivet.  Most recently, Corniel served as the Hitting Coach for the SEARK Sharks, leading the team to a historic offensive season- ranking 5th nationally with a .356 team batting average and making the program’s first-ever regional appearance.

“I’m passionate about empowering student athletes to succeed, serve, and lead-on the diamond and beyond,” said Corniel.

Athletic Director Chad Kline expressed his excitement about Corniel’s promotion:

“We’re thrilled to elevate Coach Corniel to the head coaching role.  He’s been an integral part of our baseball program over the last two seasons, and his leadership, energy, and player-first mindset have already laid the foundation for lasting success.”

Known for his defensive acumen, recruiting insight, and player-focused development philosophy, Corniel is committed to building a culture of discipline, growth, and excellence at SEARK.
