Southeast Arkansas College located at 1900 Hazel will be hosting the “Be Pro, Be Proud” mobile Workforce Workshop unit on Tuesday, August 14th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The touring unit features a customized, interactive trailer loaded with information and skills challenges.

The Workforce Workshop provides hands-on experience for individuals interested in skilled professions while showing the jobs in depth to a live audience. The lack of a skilled workforce in several fields is a critical issue to Arkansas’s economy as the state tries to succeed in a globally competitive environment. The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce estimates over 23% of the current skilled professionals in the state are at or near retirement age. But our state’s workforce isn’t prepared to fill the positions our retiring workers are creating.

The College’s Technical Studies division will be hosting an open house in conjunction with this event to showcase the various programs available such as Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical Maintenance, and Welding to name a few. Faculty will be on hand to provide tours and information about their programs. These events are open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
