Southeast Arkansas College is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Barbara Dunn as Director of Development. The formation of the Department of Development represents SEARK’s initial steps towards its strategic plan to engage in fundraising as well as to further strengthen the college’s partnerships within the community and surrounding areas. Ms. Dunn will be the first to lead this department as its Director.
Ms. Dunn joined the SEARK family in 1999. During her tenure at the college, she has served in several integral positions, the most recent of which include Director of Recruiting & Admissions. Barbara’s work experience encompasses a wide range of expertise, including workforce development, grant writing, and human resource management. As an Arkansas Career Coach Supervisor, Barbara worked extensively with local high students, parents, and career coaches.
Ms. Dunn is a life-long resident of Arkansas, where she and her husband (Otis) of 28 years have raised a daughter (Olandera) and a son (Otis III). Barbara and her husband are also the proud grandparents of Brooklyn. As an active member of her community, Barbara has served on several boards and committees throughout Jefferson County and the state of Arkansas, including the Arkansas Community College Leadership Institute, Arkansas International Educators, Economic Development Alliance, Pine Bluff School District Task Force, and the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce, as well as many others.
Barbara holds an M. A. Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University and a B.S. in Industrial Technology from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Recognizing the importance of education for individual as well as community growth, Barbara commented that she is “looking forward to making a positive impact on campus and in Pine Bluff by bringing in new opportunities for SEARK and the students we serve.” SEARK President, Steven Bloomberg, said, “Knowing Ms. Dunn’s enthusiasm and dedication to this college, I am excited to work with her as we continue to grow as a college. Barbara’s role will be instrumental in our plan for growth and extended services to our community.”
